PLEASE READ BEFORE STARTING DRIVER ED AT HOME PROGRAM

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) requires that all parents who desire to teach their child through the Parent-Taught Driver Education Program first register with the DPS. If you have not already done so, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Fill out enclosed Form DL-92- Request for a Parent Taught
Education Packet and send the form along with $20.00 (check
or money order) to the address printed on the form.

Step 2: Wait for a written response in the mail from the Texas
Department of Public Safety. If you do not receive any
correspondence in 2 weeks, then call 1-512-424-5372.

Step 3: You will receive the Parent Taught Driver Education (PTDE)
Packet. No formal letter will be enclosed confirming
your approval. Receipt of the PTDE packet means you have
been approved to teach at home.
